Shared office hours: 09:00 to 10:00 your time, which is 16:00 to 17:00 in Tampere.

In 2026 the gap to Eastern time is 7 h for most of the year, but 8 Mar to 28 Mar and 25 Oct to 31 Oct it is different because Europe and the US change clocks on different dates. Check the strip for those weeks before booking a call.

Four ways US businesses start

Fixed prices in euros, excluding VAT. Ad spend goes from your card to the platform, never through me. For most US businesses I would start with the store.

Working across a six to ten hour gap

The overlap is short, so the process leans on writing. You wake up to progress, not to questions.

  1. 1

    Written brief

Your enquiry, then my questions in one email. A fixed price within one working day.

  2. 2

    One call

Thirty minutes in the shared hour, or in the late window if confirmed for your zone.

  3. 3

    Overnight build

I work while you sleep. A staging link and a short written update wait in your morning.

  4. 4

    Async review

You comment on the staging page itself; I pick it up at the start of my next day.

  5. 5

    Launch

Timed for the start of your day, so we are both watching the first orders.

Send your brief at the end of your day. The fixed price is usually waiting when you start the next one.

What is different for US work

The engineering side of rules that vary by state. I set things up so you can meet your obligations; what those obligations are is a question for your accountant or lawyer.

01Dollar pricing and sales tax

Prices in USD, shown before tax as US shoppers expect. Sales tax is calculated by the store platform's own tax engine or an app, by address. Where you have nexus and must collect is a question for your accountant; I make the settings match their answer.

02State privacy laws

California and a growing list of states give shoppers rights to opt out of sale or sharing of data. I add the opt-out links, honour browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control where required, and tie ad tags to that choice. Check your own obligations with counsel.

03Accessibility expectations

US businesses face accessibility complaints under the ADA. There is no single official web standard for private businesses, so I use WCAG 2.2 AA as the yardstick, test by keyboard and screen reader, and give you a written record. This is engineering, not legal advice. Accessibility audits.

04Shipping and returns

US shoppers compare delivery speed and returns before price. Carrier rates for USPS, UPS or FedEx at checkout, a clear free-shipping threshold, and a returns page written before launch, not after the first complaint. For Shopify stores this is mostly settings and one or two apps.

05Social ads that sell

Shopping on Meta and TikTok starts from a clean catalogue feed and server-side purchase events. I run Meta Ads and TikTok Ads from accounts in your name, with budgets in USD and schedules set to your zone.

Questions from US businesses

How do you handle the time difference?

With a fixed overlap and written updates. On Eastern time our working days share about one hour in your morning; further west there is no office-hours overlap, so calls go in an agreed late window. Between calls you get a short written update each working day. The tool above shows your exact hours.

Can I pay in US dollars?

Prices are set in euros today, and invoicing in US dollars is still being confirmed. If it is offered, your written quote will state the dollar amount and the exchange rate used, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay. Ad spend never passes through me; platforms bill your card directly.

Do you cover accessibility and privacy rules?

On the build side, yes. I use WCAG 2.2 AA as the yardstick, test with keyboard and screen reader, and set up consent, opt-out links and Global Privacy Control handling for state privacy laws. That is engineering, not legal advice: confirm your obligations under the ADA and state law with a lawyer.

When I would not be the right choice

The time difference is real. These are the cases where it costs you more than it saves.

  • 01You need several live calls a week through Pacific afternoons. A US-based freelancer will serve you better.
  • 02You want a guarantee that the site meets the ADA. Nobody can honestly give one; I give WCAG testing and a written record.
  • 03Your store runs on a custom ERP with a large in-house team. That is a job for an agency with overlapping staff.
