what I would do

Six checks, none run yet. Pick a check, or run all six in about three seconds.

Every reading above comes from a made-up sample server; the commands are real and read-only. A real health check covers these six plus mail, DNS, firewall, SSH and logs.

The service ladder

Five steps, each priced on its own. Most servers need two or three of them, not all five. Tell the ladder where you are and it shows where to start.

  1. start herestep 1Health checkfrom€290report only; €390 with fixes

Every key area checked, each with a status light and a recommended fix.

  2. step 2Fixfrom€95an hour, +50 % out of hours, proposed

The urgent items from the report, done in order of risk, each one logged.

  3. step 3Migratefrom€390per site

When the old server is beyond saving, overpriced or on an old OS.

  4. step 4Hardenfrom€590audit and fixes

SSH, firewall, panel, PHP and mail locked down, then checked again.

  5. step 5Care planfrom€149per server a month

Patching, monitoring, backup checks and a one-page monthly report.

Start with the health check. It tells you which of the next steps you need, and which ones you can skip.

How I work on your server

Root access is trust. These are the rules I keep so you never have to wonder what happened on your machine.

Your server, your accounts

The provider account, the licences and root stay in your name. I log in with my own SSH key, which you can remove at any time.

Fixed price, in writing

A written quote within one working day. If the work turns out bigger, I stop and ask before going further.

Every change logged

What changed, when, why and how to undo it, in a plain change log you keep after the job ends.

Backup before touching

A fresh snapshot or backup before any change that could break something, so the way back always exists.

Not sure what state your server is in? That is exactly where to start.

When I am not the right admin

I would rather point you elsewhere than take on a server I cannot look after properly.

  • 01You need a contract with round-the-clock response and penalties. That needs a staffed team on shifts, not one person in Tampere.
  • 02You run a large Kubernetes cluster or Windows servers. My daily work is Linux web servers, panels and the PHP stack on top of them.
  • 03You have one small site on shared hosting. The host already patches the server; a website care plan fits better and costs less.

Questions about server administration

What does a server health check include?

A fixed-scope review of one server: load and memory, disk, PHP versions and workers, web server and cache, SSL, DNS and mail authentication, backups with a test restore, security updates, firewall, SSH and panel access. You get a written report with a status light and a recommended fix for each item, ranked by urgency.

Do you work with servers I already have?

Yes, that is most of the work. I take over cPanel/WHM servers, VPSs and dedicated machines at any provider, on AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CloudLinux, Ubuntu or Debian. Access stays in your name: you add my SSH key and remove it whenever you like. Nothing changes until you approve the plan.

Can you be on call outside office hours?

Not as a standing promise. I work Finnish business hours, and a one-person studio cannot honestly offer round-the-clock cover. Monitoring alerts run all the time, a priority response option is available by written agreement, and urgent out-of-hours work is billed at the €95 hourly rate plus 50 % (proposed). Ask before you need it.
