New account route: 9 steps, 13 fields, about 2:09. PayPal route: 4 steps, 2 fields, about 0:28. Illustrative timings.
This is the route done right: the address comes back from PayPal and no extra account is forced.
PayPal on your checkout without the sandbox surprises
PayPal buttons, card fields and Pay Later connected to your store, with currency, shipping address and order-status sync done right. I test the sandbox and the live account, including refunds and a dispute dry-run. From €390.
You contract with PayPal directly. Money and card data never pass through Pikselipolku.
What a PayPal integration covers
The button is the easy part. The work is in what happens to the order after the buyer comes back from PayPal.
Buttons where they help
PayPal buttons on cart and checkout, and on product pages only where a one-item purchase is common. Placement checked on phones first.
Card fields
PayPal's own hosted card fields when you want cards without a second provider, so card details stay with PayPal, not on your server.
Pay Later messaging
Shown on product and cart pages where your account and the buyer's country are eligible, and hidden where it is not.
Currency and totals
The order currency sent correctly, and item, shipping and tax lines that add up exactly, because mismatched totals are rejected.
Address and status sync
The shipping address chosen in PayPal saved on the order, and webhooks moving it to paid, refunded or denied without anyone watching.
Tracking that survives the redirect
The return from PayPal excluded as a referral in GA4, so purchases keep their real source. See tracking setup.
Already on Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento? Most of the job is testing, not code.
Get a PayPal quoteWhy is this order pending?
The question store owners send me most. Answer two questions about one stuck order and the tree ends in what to do.
Orange squares mark the path so far; the dark square is where you are.

In your PayPal account, does this payment show as Completed?
Reason names follow PayPal's developer documentation at the time of writing. Check PayPal's current pages, as settings and wording change.
From sandbox to live, in five steps
Sandbox and live behave differently in small ways, so both get tested.
- 1
Account check
Business account verified, currencies and receiving preferences reviewed with you.
- 2
Sandbox build
Buttons, card fields and webhooks on a staging copy of your store.
- 3
Test matrix
Success, declined card, full and partial refund, a pending payment and a dispute dry-run.
- 4
Live switch
Live credentials, one small real purchase and a refund, webhook log checked.
- 5
Handover
A one-page note: where settings live, what each status means, who to call.
PayPal packages
Fixed prices, excl. VAT. You keep every account and credential.
On your platform
- Buttons on cart and checkout
- Sandbox and live tests, refund included
- Webhook delivery checked
- GA4 referral exclusion
Full checkout
- Everything in On your platform
- Card fields and Pay Later messaging where eligible
- Every pending reason tested against your order statuses
- Dispute dry-run and handover note
Custom build
- Orders API on a custom or headless site
- Server-side create and capture
- Signed, idempotent webhook handling
- Nightly check for orders still pending
If it does not work out: if the integration fails the test list we agree in writing, I keep working on it until it passes, at no extra cost.
When I would not add PayPal first
- Most of your buyers are Finnish consumers. Bank buttons and MobilePay usually matter more there; start with Finnish payment methods.
- You sell only to businesses on invoice. A wallet button adds a choice nobody will use.
- Your store already offers PayPal through its built-in payment settings, as on Shopify or with the official plugin on WooCommerce, and orders sync fine. Then you may only need a test run, not an integration.
Questions about PayPal
Do I need a PayPal Business account?
Yes. Accepting PayPal on a store needs a PayPal Business account in your company's name, and you contract with PayPal directly. I connect it to your store through the platform's official connection or API credentials. Pikselipolku never receives your money or holds card data; payments land in your own PayPal account.
Why do some PayPal orders stay pending?
Usually because a bank-funded payment is still clearing, a currency or address setting needs manual approval, PayPal is reviewing it, it was only authorised, or a webhook never reached your store. The decision tree above walks through each case. Most are fixed by a settings change or a sturdier webhook handler.
Can I offer PayPal and Stripe together?
Yes, and many stores do: Stripe for cards and wallets, PayPal as a separate button for buyers who prefer it. The work is in the details: one order-status flow, no duplicate card forms, and refunds going back through the provider that took the payment. I test both paths before launch.
